Install SimpleCounter
Add SimpleCounter to your home screen so it opens like a real app, works offline, and keeps your counts on your own device. It takes under a minute on any phone or computer.
Install on iPhone or iPad (Safari)
iOS does not let Chrome or Firefox install web apps, so this only works from Safari. If you opened this page in another browser, open simplecounter.co in Safari first.
- Tap the Share icon (the square with an arrow pointing up) in the Safari toolbar.
- Scroll down the share sheet and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Edit the name if you want, then tap Add in the top-right corner.
- A SimpleCounter icon appears on your home screen — tap it to open the app full screen.
Install on Android (Chrome)
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of Chrome.
- Tap Install app (on some versions of Chrome this reads Add to Home screen).
- Confirm by tapping Install in the pop-up.
- SimpleCounter is added to your app drawer and home screen just like any other app.
Some Android browsers, such as Samsung Internet, show the same option worded as "Add page to" then "Home screen" — the result is the same installed shortcut.
Install on desktop (Chrome or Edge)
- Look for a small install icon (a monitor with a down arrow, or a "+" in a box) at the right edge of the address bar.
- Click it and choose Install.
- If you don't see the icon, open the browser menu (three dots) and look for Install SimpleCounter or Apps → Install this site as an app.
- The app opens in its own window, and a shortcut is added to your Start menu, taskbar, dock, or applications folder depending on your operating system.
What about Firefox?
Desktop Firefox does not support installing websites as standalone apps. If you use Firefox on a computer, the closest alternative is to bookmark SimpleCounter (Ctrl/Cmd + D) or pin the tab so it's always one click away. Firefox for Android does support "Add to Home screen" from its menu, which behaves the same as the Chrome steps above.
What installing actually gets you
- The app opens full screen with no address bar or browser tabs, so it feels like a native app.
- It launches straight from your home screen or desktop in one tap, without typing a URL.
- It keeps working with no internet connection, because the page and its logic are cached on your device the first time you load it.
- Your counts stay stored on that device the same way they do in the browser — installing doesn't change where the data lives, only how you open the app.
Does it take up space, and does it need updates?
The installed app is a lightweight shortcut plus a small cache of the site's files, usually a few megabytes — far smaller than a typical app store download. You don't need to manually update anything: the next time you open the app with a connection, it quietly fetches any new version in the background, the same way this website updates itself.
How to uninstall
- iPhone/iPad: press and hold the icon on the home screen, then tap Remove App or Delete App.
- Android: press and hold the icon and drag it to Uninstall, or use App info → Uninstall.
- Chrome or Edge on desktop: open the installed app, click the three-dot menu inside its window, and choose Uninstall SimpleCounter (or remove it from chrome://apps / edge://apps).
Will installing keep my current count?
Installing doesn't move or copy anything by itself — it just creates a shortcut to the same site running in the same browser engine, so any count you already have there should still be visible once the app opens. That said, browsers do sometimes use a separate storage area for installed apps versus regular tabs, and clearing your browser first can wipe both. If a count matters, write the number down or use CSV export from the counter's settings before you install, just to be safe.
No install option showing up?
- You're in a private or incognito window. Most browsers block installation there — open the site in a normal window instead.
- It's already installed. Check your home screen, app drawer, or Start menu; browsers hide the install prompt once an app is already added.
- Your browser doesn't support it. Desktop Firefox and Safari on macOS don't offer installation — use a bookmark, or switch to Chrome/Edge for the full app experience.
- The page hasn't fully loaded once while online. Load simplecounter.co with a normal connection first so your browser can cache it, then try installing again.
