What to write to us about

We read every message that arrives at support@simplecounter.co. These are the things we can actually help with, and roughly what happens when you send them:

  • Something is broken. A button that does nothing, a counter that will not increment, a converter returning an obviously wrong number, a page that fails to load. Bug reports get priority over everything else in the inbox.
  • A counter lost its count. This is the message we get most often. Counts live in your own browser rather than on our servers, so clearing browsing data, using private browsing, or switching device will lose them. Tell us which browser you use and what happened just before the reset, and we can usually tell you whether it was a browser setting or a genuine bug on our side.
  • A tool you wish existed. Most of the counters and converters on the site were added because somebody asked. If you count something for work or a hobby and there is no page for it, describe how you count it today and we will look at building it.
  • A correction to a guide. If a conversion factor, formula, or explanation in one of our articles is wrong or out of date, send the page address and what should change. We would much rather fix it than leave it.
  • Advertising and partnerships. Media enquiries, sponsorship, and content partnerships are all welcome. Please include the site or company you represent.
  • Privacy and legal requests. Data questions, takedown notices, and licensing queries. Put "Privacy" or "Legal" at the start of the subject line so it gets routed correctly.

How to report a bug we can actually reproduce

Most bug reports we cannot fix are missing one detail that would have let us see the problem ourselves. If you include these five things, there is a good chance we can reproduce it on the first try:

  • The exact page address where it happened, for example /tools/bmi-calculator.
  • Your browser and version, and whether you were on a phone, tablet, or computer.
  • What you did, step by step, in the order you did it.
  • What you expected to see, and what actually appeared instead.
  • Any numbers involved. For a calculator or converter, the values you typed in and the result you got are usually enough for us to find the fault in the formula.

A screenshot helps a great deal, particularly for layout problems. If the issue only happens on one device, mention that too, since it often points at a browser setting rather than the site itself.

Answers you can get faster than emailing

We are a small team, so a reply usually takes two to three business days. Several of the most common questions already have a full answer on the site, and reading those will be quicker than waiting on us:

  • The FAQ covers where your counts are stored, whether they survive closing the tab, moving counts between devices, keyboard shortcuts, exporting to a spreadsheet, and why a count occasionally resets.
  • Installing SimpleCounter as an app has step-by-step instructions for iPhone, Android, and desktop, and what to do when no install option appears.
  • The counter collection lists every counter we publish, so it is worth checking there before requesting a new one.
  • The tools directory does the same for the calculators and converters.
  • The disclaimer explains how accurate the health and financial calculators are meant to be, and where you should not rely on them.

What we cannot help with

We cannot recover counts from a browser whose data has already been cleared, because we never held a copy of them in the first place. We also cannot give medical, financial, legal, or tax advice about the results a calculator produced. The tools are there to do arithmetic quickly, and a qualified professional should interpret anything important.
