Spacebar Counter is a free online counter that runs in your web browser. Open the page, then tap the screen or press the space bar once for each item to keep a running total while seeing how many times you can press space in a set period. The number is saved on your device, so it survives a reload or a closed tab, and it works with no internet connection once the page has loaded.

The space bar is the biggest, easiest key to hit repeatedly, which is why it ends up as the default button for counting races, keyboard checks and idle competitions. This counter listens for space presses the moment the page loads and keeps a running total that survives a refresh, so you can count for ten seconds or ten minutes without setting anything up..
Press the space bar and the number goes up. No start button to find first and no focus tricks — the page listens as soon as it loads.
Count freely for as long as you like here, or use the CPS test when you want presses measured against a clock instead.
Reset returns you to zero for the next attempt, and the minus key takes back a single accidental press without wiping the total.
A spacebar counter is a page that listens for space-bar key presses and keeps a running total. People use it to test keyboards, to compare their pressing speed with friends, or simply because the space bar is the easiest key to hit repeatedly without looking.
Open this page and press the space bar. Every press adds one to the number on screen. Nothing needs to be clicked first, and you can press as fast or as slowly as you want because the count is not on a timer.
Most people land somewhere around 5 to 8 presses per second in short bursts using one finger, and higher with two-finger or drag techniques. Numbers vary a lot with keyboard type — a light mechanical switch registers faster than a deep membrane key — so compare your results on the same keyboard rather than against other people.
This page counts presses with no clock, so it suits open-ended counting and keyboard checks. The CPS test runs a fixed timer and divides your presses by the seconds elapsed, which is what you want if the goal is a comparable speed score.
Yes. The current total is stored in your browser, so refreshing the page or coming back later does not reset it. Use the reset button when you deliberately want to start a new attempt from zero.
Holding the key produces the operating system’s auto-repeat, which is generally not a fair reflection of pressing speed. For a meaningful count, tap the key rather than holding it — and if a single tap ever adds two, that is usually a hardware sign that the switch is starting to fail.
What you actually get compared with a mechanical clicker, a notes app, or trying to hold the number in your head.
Open the spacebar counter and start counting in the same second. No account, no email, no trial.
Totals are saved on your device as you go, so a locked screen, a closed tab, or a lost signal does not reset anything.
Install it to your home screen and it keeps working in a warehouse, a pool hall, a field, or a plane — no connection needed.
Counts stay in your browser. There is no cloud sync, no profile, and nothing about what you count is sent to us.
We publish only real, attributed feedback here — so this space is intentionally empty until we have your words to put in it. Tell us what you use the spacebar counter for and we will add your story, with your name, to this page.
